Whitetail, Snowshoe and other local resorts, take note. The first study on the economic impact of a lift-assisted bike park has been released. The Western Canada Mountain Bike Tourism Association (MBTA) study shows that the western BC trails generated over 10.3 million dollars in visitor spending last summer. When the Whistler bike park and Crankworx spending is factored in, that number jumps to 38 million!
This is the first study of this nature that proves what we've been saying all along. Done correctly, there is plenty of profit in converting your ski mtn into a bike park in the summer months. We're here, and we want to spend money at your resort... will you take it??

Got these pix in from Adam Ward. He spent the weekend working with Rich Edwards (IMBA) and MORE to create this massive bermed downhill area at the Wakefield powerline trail. These pix are from the construction on Friday, apparently they’re all finished and ready to ride! Thanks again to these guys for recognizing the need to go beyond singletrack XC trails. |
